Diana Velasco is a Danish-Spanish fine arts photographer born in 1974. Velasco investigates the areas of identity, cultural memories, and sense of place – all related to her background in anthropology, which she studied at the University of Washington. Velasco was nominated for the LensCulture Emerging Talent Award 2017; in 2019, the artists’ association Corner invited her to be guest artist at their exhibition at Sophienholm and, in 2021, she will be a guest artist at the photo festival Imago Lisboa. She is co-founder of Radar Contemporary.

 

Velasco has had solo shows at The Danish Immigrant Museum (DK), West Chicago City Museum (US), Museum of Danish America (US), Nordic Heritage Museum (US), and the Hans Alf Gallery. Furthermore, Velasco has participated in group shows at Kunsthal Charlottenborg (DK), Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art (DK), Overgaden (DK), Brandts (DK), Sophienholm (DK), ARoS Aarhus Art Museum (DK), NW Gallery (DK), Huset i Asnæs (DK), Landskrona Photo Festival (SE), Reclaim Photography Festival (UK) and, soon, Imago Lisboa (PT).
